transparentMotionVector

Whether a blended material contributes motion vectors.

Remarks

Off by default, and only meaningful with blendMode !== 'none': blended geometry is normally absent from the prepass, so it writes no velocity and a temporal filter reprojects it with whatever is behind it. Turning this on adds it to a motion-vector-only pass over the transparent queue.

Right for geometry that is dense enough to own its pixels - hair, foliage cards - where one velocity per pixel is a fair summary. Wrong for genuinely see-through surfaces such as glass, where the background's own velocity is the one that should survive, which is why this is opt-in.
